Self Reviews

I hate self evaluations. I mean really. Am I going to be truthful and explicitly state all the areas in which I'm lacking or could use improvement? Am I gonna be that honest? No. And am I going to lavish praise and claim all these amazing accomplishments and achievements? No to that one as well. I don't personally talk myself up that way. So really...what is the point of filling out an eval year after year when all I do is check "meets expectations" on every question and never claim to exceed them or need improvement?

Anyway, in filling this year's out I chuckled when i came across "demonstrates a collegial and respectful relationship with ancillary staff." I'm thinking...yes? You know, if you don't count the tech I just ripped a new one to. Then yeah, I'm respectful.

Christmas Gift Exchange

Back in December I attended one of those gift exchanges where you bring something from your house that you no longer want (or maybe never wanted). All the castoffs get piled together and you proceed to  unwrap, swap, steal and other wise oh and ahh over everyone else's junk. One man's trash is another man's treasure rung quite true for a few of those gifts. I ended up with a Cocoa Latte machine. Kind of cool. Then I got it home and realized it was an entire contraption designed to take up space and warm up water and pre-made hot cocoa packets. Basically, it can do what a kettle or sauce pot is capable of and heat water.  Never fear...craigslist or ebay to the rescue! I did a bit of research, just to see what it was once worth and found an FDA recall of my exact make and model. Bummer I guess now it really is trash. Except I read the recall, realized the machine has been known to leak lead and decided that not only did I not want it, but it probably wasn't 100% safe to just toss it away. So I called the number. A human voice answered and after a surprisingly short and easy call I had the information I needed. A recall kit to send the product back was on it's way and once received, I was informed, a $30 rebate check would be sent. The kit came today, the machine is on it's way and in 6-8weeks I'll have a check for something I got for free! Best gift exchange ever.
