Quote of the Moment
Love one another and you will be happy. It's as simple and as difficult as that....

A Date With Myself
A few weeks ago a new cinema opened in our neck of the woods. As part of their grand opening they played already on DVD movies for $2 a show. One afternoon I was kind of feeling a movie and I decided to take myself out. I have watched many a movies on my own; but I had never been to a theater without a companion. I was kinda syked about it. I got my ticket, splurged for the heavily discounted popcorn and soda, and was only feeling slightly conspicuous. I followed a teenage couple through the double doors of the theater, found a seat and waited for the show to begin. And I waited and waited and waited five minutes past the start time before I went back out into the hallway to investigate. Turns out those "double doors" were actually the door for theater 3 on the left and the door for theater 4 on the right. I had been in the wrong theater. Not to be discouraged I entered the correct theater found a new seat and settled in for the show. No one was with me to witness the embarrassment and 5 minutes later that same teenage couple entered my new theater. They had made the same mistake. My husband thought my solo journey was somewhat sad, but I found it quite liberating. For only $6 I got a movie, popcorn, soda and the realization that I go to movies with other people because I am quite incapable of navigating the cinema on my own. lesson learned.

5K
I signed up to run a 5K. I was coerced into this by my sister, and I am not altogether convinced it was a good idea. It is not a traditional 5K. It is one of those events with obstacles intermingled between the running portions. And it is zombie themed. Which means, added to the torture of a 3.10686 mile run, there are obstacles to overcome, mud and 'blood' that has been promised and, otherwise normal, human beings dressed for the day like the walking dead and attempting to 'kill' you by removing one of your three flag football-esqe life lines. I'm not at all sure this is my scene.
Not to mention, after day one of training, I have realized I am quite horribly out of shape. I started a training program called from Couch 2 5K, virtually promising to have even the laziest of us couch potatoes up and at em by race day. I could barely muster through the first workout. Today should be day two, following a day of rest. I am looking out the window praying the rain continues so I have an excuse not to get off the couch.

iPhone
I broke down and got an iPhone. I put it off and put it off and told myself how unnecessary they are (which I still believe) and refused to upgrade for years. I had my previous phone for three years and it was great in its crappiness. But I continually got made fun of and told to get a real phone. One with actual capabilities. Like Internet. So I succumbed. And now...if I am on the go and think of something I'd like to blog...there's an app for that.

Bottle Caps
-The round metal thing strewn across my patio and kitchen floor after this weekend's party.
-The last thing between your and the well deserved and definitely needed beer (or root beer, sometimes)
-The subject of this really cool tray I want to make
-The most recent awesome candy I am hooked on--sugar in the shape of a bottle cap that comes in soda flavors--who can resist that??

Weirdest 10 Minute Drive of My Life
Today I was driving down route 50 going a good 85 mph when I noticed a groundhog in the middle of my lane. He was just chilling there, up on his hind legs, trying to pay his respects to his friend who was flattened one lane over. Of course, I slammed on my breaks to give him time to retreat. He didn't. So I checked the lane beside me. Couldn't move over. Luckily no one was behind me so I continued to slow and swerved onto the shoulder to pass him by. Then I watched three cars in my rearview mirror attempt the same maneuver. I lost site of him still okay in the lane, but I would't be surprised if he shortly joined his squashed little friend.
Two minutes later I was attempting to merge from the left onto a new highway and got stuck behind a Florida driver who obviously has no clue how to drive in the high speed, heavy traffic of highways up here. I nearly had to slam on my breaks again to avoid rear ending him when he slowed almost to a stop in the middle of the merge lane. We both managed to squeeze into the left hand lane and proceeded to continue a whopping fifteen miles under the speed limit. As I was cursing slow drivers in the left lane who made my merge difficult and dangerous, I realized I was smack dab in the middle of a funeral procession. Not the first time I've cursed the deceased for getting in my way on the road before realizing what was going on. Oops.
Managing to pass them I continued on my speed demon drive. I felt a need for speed. Two miles up the road there was a cop car stopped on the shoulder because a different car was wrecked in the grass off the shoulder. The car was facing me head on. Obviously somehow managing to end up driving into the grass in the wrong direction.
I hit my brakes for the third time. And this time I decided to slow my roll. A dead animal. A funeral procession. And a recent accident. I can read the signs.

Hair Care
I am not super girly when it comes to my hair. Most of the time, I end up throwing it back in a ponytail because I just can't be bothered. In fact, even when I do take the time to style it and make it look somewhat presentable it inevitably starts to get on my nerves and ends up in a ponytail anyway. I also never seem to make it to the salon for haircuts as often as they recommend. In fact it is usually four to five months before I realize just how badly I need a haircut and this is usually only because it is irritating me more than usual.
Despite my complete and utter disregard for caring for my hair, I am quite picky about who cuts it. It is a rare thing for me to walk out of a salon liking the way it was both cut and styled. In fact, there was a time when I was so picky and so scared of change that haircuts would actually make me nervous. I have come a long way. Still, I was quite happy when I found both a stylist and salon that I liked (on the first try!) when I moved last year. She cut and styled my hair well, the salon wasn't overpriced and she wasn't super chatty. Those are two other reasons I don't like salons...I hate paying so much for a hair cut and I hate the chit chat stylists seem to expect. I'm paying you to cut my hair, not be entertained, so pay attention to it! Anyway, I was upset when I called to make an appointment today only to find she had left! And of course they couldn't tell me where she went. Why can't people be dependable, suck it up and stay at their jobs??
Anyway, I made an appointment with a new chick. She spent the entire time chitter chattering and pretending to be interested in my personal life. That is in between the comments on how uneven my hair was, and how shapeless, and how grown out and how the drug store products that I use are horrible. I hate when the stylists try to sell their salon's products. I've fallen for it in the past. And she didn't believe me when I told her every time I change from my current regimen my hair gets straw dry and super coarse. At least she explained why they were supposedly better. And so I bought her products. And I will use them exclusively. And I will make the second appointment (before July 4th, cause she chastised me on waiting too long in between visits). And I will prove to her and her shampoo 'chemistry' lessons and her snide comments that she is not all that and a bag of potato chips.
PS-Living Social is now on my 'Deep S*it' list. So please continue to refuse to use them. Thank you and Goodnight.

Chick fil A
Did Chick fil A change their nuggets? I am not normally a Chick fil A fan. Blasphemous around these parts, I know. They have waffle fries...too much potato, not enough fry. And all the "thank you...you're welcome...my pleasure"s drive me nuts. I am all for politeness, and rude employees drive me even more nuts, but it is not "your pleasure" to collect my garbage. So don't say it is. I swung into the drive through today because I was starving and it was the first food establishment I saw. I ordered a four piece kids meal because apparently my preference for small meals puts me in the kid sized portion for fast food. I got a pint sized lemonade and a pretty lame toy with my meal. Anyway back to my original question. Did Chick fil A change their nuggets? They seemed different. Like they had a bit of spice to them. And they left visual, dripping grease on my fingers. I was not a fan.
