Today I mailed my taxes!! (Yes, I am old school and still mail the forms in. And no, I do not use direct deposit to get my refund because if some one steals my envelope on its way to the tax offices they have my name, social and bank routing information! Scary. And yes, I even filled out one of the forms by hand. I realize it is the time of technology. I'm just a little bit behind.) Anyway, you may be thinking, 'big deal, taxes are due in fifteen days anyway.' You may even have your return already. But, for me, this is a huge feat. In fact, it is the first year in the last decade (yes, I have been alive long enough to have been paying taxes for a decade...sad day) that I have mailed my taxes earlier than the DAY BEFORE they are due. I am infamous for mailing on April 14th. Such a procrastinator. So, even though the federal and one out of two states have been completed for weeks and, technically, I still procrastinated the final state return, I consider this a huge accomplishment. Go me!
I absolutely HATE tax season. Hence, the procrastination. This year was stressful, but when all was said and done I had to write one check, but should be receiving two from state refunds. I guess I should be relieved to break about even. I still hate the person who had the whole idea.
PS-I am not a millionaire. So, I guess the bright side of that is I'm completely finished with taxes for the next year.
